Application of the wavelet transform to analysis of ultra-wideband processes

Summary form only given. Ultra-wideband processes take place in nature, physics, and electronics. They appear from transient impacts (shocks) on the medium, electronic devices, etc. In general, their properties are similar to those of the basic wavelet functions. That is why wavelet analysis is suggested for studying ultra-wideband processes which substantially differ from other processes in that they are relatively short and are not quasiperiodic. Examples of ultra-wideband processes are provided from different fields of the wave theory, their mathematical models are constructed, and the requirements the models should meet are specified. Suitable basic functions are suggested for analytical ultra-wideband processes and used for mathematical modeling. The advantage of the wavelet transform over the standard Fourier analysis is demonstrated in the studies of ultra-wideband processes. The examples of practical usage of the technique developed are given.
