An innovative educational concept of teleworking in the high precision metrology laboratory to develop a model of implementation in the advanced manufacturing industry

The production of very precise components goes hand in hand with the development of the necessary metrology, and a wide range of measuring instruments has been devised to cater for the evaluation of surfaces and structures down to the nanometric scale. The advancement in the industry requires this special infrastructure, equipment and expertise that are of high cost if integrated into the organization. Amid the challenges of competitive, sustainable and smart technologies in the advanced manufacturing industry, organizations have focused on the flexibility, efficiency and quality of processes by means of teleworking that does not limit the resources to a location, time difference or facility. As teleworking becomes more thoroughly ingrained in an industry, the requirement of necessary metrology, and a wide range of measuring instruments that can be found in a high precision metrology laboratory will accommodate the rising demand of the services. Due to the current global economic development, more and more pressure is exerted on the industries, At the same time comprehensive knowledge in the areas of market requirements, product/process development and design, advanced metrology, and end of life management are important presuppositions to achieve rapid, agile, waste free and cost-effective production of innovative, customized complex products using next-generation materials as well as to protect the environment by making zero emissions and improve environmental sustainability and reduce the use of energy within the smart manufacturing systems. This paper proposes a strategic approach to develop a remotely controlled high precision metrology system with high accuracy as well as with the smallest measurement uncertainties for the microand nanotechnologies and intelligent integrated management system applicable in smart manufacturing industry. This is of extreme importance in present time of worldwide international competition in industry and production engineering and at the same time increasingly higher costs of energy and raw material.
