Finite Length Reconstructible ASK-Sequences Received with 1-bit Quantization and Oversampling

1-bit quantization at the receiver of a Multi-gigabit/s communication system results in a relaxed power consumption by the receiver analog-to-digital converter (ADC). However, this coarse quantization leads to a loss in the achievable information rate. This can be compensated by oversampling at the receiver, when taking into account the memory of the channel. This work proposes the methods to construct finite-length ASKsequences that can be perfectly reconstructed at the receiver by oversampling and 1-bit quantization. Also it aims to simplify the receiver design by doing symbol detection in small blocks lengths, thus doing away with complex trellis based algorithms. The error rate performance of the system on applying block-based detection is analyzed and is found to be as good as the trellis based algorithms.
