Distortion of pulses on a terminated microstrip line of finite length

This paper reports an investigation of the distortion of pulses propagating on a terminated microstrip line of finite length due to the line's dispersion. The Fourier transform and its inverse are used to compute the transient signals. The dispersion of the microstrip line, needed in the analysis, is calculated using the spectral-domain method. Results are presented for finite-length microstrip lines terminated by a resistor, an open circuit, and an inductor, showing clear distortions of the propagating signals.
