Implementing and securing a hybrid cloud for a healthcare information system

The paper presents the implementation of servers virtualizations within hospitals or institutions providing health care services and the possibility of developing a hybrid cloud. This infrastructure will reduce the costs for the hardware resources, will need less data center space, reduces energy consumption, ensures flexibility when changing software components, and simplicity in restoring systems. It creates a private cloud where one can store sensitive patient data. Also, using public cloud services, healthcare organizations are benefiting from scalable, cost effective and flexible solutions. Combining two types of cloud it results in a hybrid cloud. The infrastructure of the hybrid cloud simplifies the transmission of information between different hospitals and organizations, as well as obtaining the benefits of the public cloud. The system is using the virtualization environment, Hyper-V, and for the public cloud services the Azure platform.
