GPR: Applications in criminal investigation

This article deals with a specific and particular soil inspection based on a radar in order to facilitate criminal investigation. Applications in this area are huge from the detection of buried corpses [11] to the localisation of hidden objects beneath floors and within walls [9], whatever the environment is. Among a variety of available geophysical tools, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has been shown to be the most adapted to preserve traces in a non-destructive way. This paper proposes to briefly describe the theoretical principles before to detail applications for investigators.
