Improvement of adsorption performance of micropreconcentrator by using CNT for trace level biomarker detection

We have proposed a novel nanotechnology based micropreconcentrator (microPC) in this paper. In our new microPC, for the adsorption of trace level biomarker molecules, the carbon nanotubes (CNT) are utilized as the adsorption structure to improve Si based microPC. In order to verify the performance improvement of our CNT based microPC, we have performed quantitative simulation study with particle tracking method. In the simulation, various CNT configuration models are investigated and their simulated adsorption performances of biomarkers are compared with that of Si based micromachined microPC. As a result of quantitative simulation study, we confirmed at least 4 times to 23 times better adsorption performances for our CNT based microPC than those of Si based models.
