Thin film magnetic head composed of inorganic materials

Today, Hc(coercivity) of magnetic recording mediums is becoming higher as high density recordings are strongly demanded to the mediums, this requires a magnetic head having higher Bs(saturation flux density) for its core material. On the other hand, currently utilized thin film magnetic heads developed for such high density recordings, employ an organic insulation film which is naturally not heat-resistant. This limits the flexibility of selecting magnetic core materials for the heads. This paper discusses a thin film magnetic head which employs a heat-resistant inorganic insulation film and a cobalt family amorphous alloy for its core.
