Design and electromagnetic analysis of a novel 3-DOF deflection type permanent magnet actuator

This paper mainly focuses on the design and electromagnetic analysis of magnetic field distribution and torque characteristics of a novel three-degree-of-freedom deflection type permanent magnet actuator based on analytical and 3D finite element method with comparison analysis. The air gap flux density distribution is derived with clear solutions of equations in spherical coordinates. With finite element analysis, different magnetization modes and some key structure parameters' effects on the electromagnetic field and torque characteristics are discussed, and the derived results are presented. The results provide the reference for further design, optimization and control related researches of multi- degree-of-freedom motors or actuators.
