Optimizing volt-VAR devices at Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation

This paper presents the results of implementation of loss minimization and conservation voltage reduction on four of Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation's distribution feeders. It describes the workflow from getting the data from the distribution system and preparing them for use in the optimization (also known as extract, transform and load or ETL process), the optimization algorithm that schedules the switching of capacitor and regulator devices, and the grid engineer and operator interfaces that show switching actions to be taken, together with other reports that are generated.
