Gaphical User Interface For A Digital Media Computer

Unlike either the set-top box or the PC, both of which have some features in common with it, the Digital Media Computer (DMC) is a “hybrid” appliance whose exact nature is still unclear. It is a contention of this paper that a successful DMC Graphical User Interface (GUI must attempt to clarify this “hybrid” status. For purposes of illustration, one particular GUI solution is examined, with special emphasis given to look and feel issues, highlevel system navigation, and centralized device control.
