Bandwidth reconfigurable bandstop filter using planar EBG structure

In this paper, bandwidth reconfigurable bandstop filter using uni-planar electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure is proposed. Bandstop filter is fabricated by loading microstrip transmission line with periodic uni-planar EBG structure. The loaded EBG cells are not connected to each other, with and without connecting EBG cells the bandwidth of the stop band is varied. The PIN diodes are used to connect and disconnect the EBG cells. The measured 10-dB bandwidth of the stop band in the on state is from 6.41 GHz to 7.33 GHz and in the off state is from 6.84 GHz to 7.47 GHz, 290 MHz change in bandwidth is achieved.
