Governor design for isolated steam power systems using fractional-order PID

This work presents a robust governor for load frequency control LFC of power systems with isolated steam turbine based on fractional-order PID. The five parameters of FOPID are found by optimizing the index of the integral-time-absolute error ITAE using genetic algorithm. Furthermore, to avoid saturation of the servo motor, the design is constrained for as minimum as possible to the control signal. The idea is to explore the robustness stability and performance of the FOPID with respect to the parameter's uncertainty. For the controlled system, the time-domain as well as the frequency-domain features are investigated.
