A finite element calculation of radiofrequency magnetic fields in simulated human organs and tissues

The radio frequency magnetic field distribution of a surface coil adjacent to stimulated human organs and tissues was calculated using a finite-element program. Calculations were done at 10 and 200 MHz. At 10 MHz the B/sub 1/ field was nearly identical to the calculated field in free space (air). At 200 MHz, the B/sub 1/ field was significantly increased due to a contribution from displacement currents induced in the tissue sample.<
