A novel ultra-wideband microwave chaotic Colpitts oscillator

A novel ultra-wideband chaotic Colpitts oscillator is presented. Instead of the common-base configuration, it is based on the common-collector configuration with an extra inductor in the collector circuit of the transistor. By employing the transistor BFG520/XR, this novel chaotic circuit is experimentally demonstrated that the power spectrum bandwidth of the generated chaotic signals is about 7.44GHz (from 0.56GHz to 8GHz), and the fundamental chaotic oscillation frequency f

is up to 1.61 GHz. The design is versatile and may be used in a variety of UWB modulation schemes and systems, as IEEE 802.15.4a UWB WPANs(3.1GHz-10.6GHz).
