Energy industry since NAFTY: an analysis of the winners and losers

Summary form only as given, The energy industry, along with a few select others, is large enough and political enough to warrant a full chapter by itself in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The role that each country has historically played cannot be overemphasized. The negotiations were delicate. Since the agreement, however, the growth numbers show that the industry has grown very well despite the peso collapse. This analysis shows which countries have won and which have lost through the negotiations and through the resulting trade relationships. A picture for the future is subsequently described.
