Omstein-Uhlenbeck first-passage-time models for spontaneous eye blinking

This study proposed one-dimensional stochastic diffusion models for spontaneous eye blink and analysed blink burst during low vigilance. The blinking was measured when the vigilance of subjects was high and low, and compared with the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. The observed data was in good agreement with the model output and the estimated value of a virtual blink generator threshold changed with vigilance, which suggests that the Omstein-Uhlenbeck first-passage-time models are valid spontaneous blink models and that the blink burst occurs because of a shift of the threshold.
