Interactive services on MATV systems. Terrestrial return interaction path

This paper deals with the return channel (return interaction path) based on coaxial (MATV) and terrestrial transmission. The system described is based on three segments: from the end-user to the MATV head-end through the existing coaxial cable; from the head-end to a return channel management centre, by RF over-the-air transmission; and from this management centre to the service provider, through a core network. The paper is focused on the first two segments, describing different scenarios and studying possible solutions. An introduction on interactive services is also presented.
