Microcontroller technologies in low power applications

The field of Engineering well connected with the Engineering education has been the main workforce behind economic development. Starting from more traditional areas like mechanical engineering, engineering has evolved to meet the current demands of this generation and to fulfill the future trends require engineers and educators to solve problems innovatively. Engineering developments and innovations are being brought forward at an increasingly rapid rate, thereby forcing engineering educators to adapt to new realities. In this article, the views of the presenters are described, based on their experiences as engineering educators combined with the feedback of learner — one of the PhD students directly involved in developments. Most dynamic field in this huge family of engineering we consider to be the Electronic engineering field and inside the consumer electronics. We selected from the new technologies that support inventiveness and fast development of this field of electronics the new microcontroller technologies with two classes of devices: Programmable System on Chip PSoC from Cypress Semiconductors and ultra-low power RISC mixed-signal microprocessors from Texas Instruments.
