Total efficiency of a hybrid electric vehicle

Generally, the efficiency of a motor for electric vehicles is extremely high compared with an internal combustion engine. The electric vehicle doesn't produce emission during running. Including fuel production and generation, however, the efficiency falls and emissions are produced. Therefore it is necessary to consider total efficiency and emissions. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has developed a hybrid electric light-duty truck, the Canter HEV which is equipped with a LPG powered engine-generator and electric motors. Canter HEV has achieved low fuel consumption and low emissions. This paper describes a comparison of total fuel consumption and emissions of diesel and electric and hybrid electric vehicle.
