Dynamic modelling of the electromagnetic behaviour of cavities with randomly positioned boundaries

This paper presents an approach to the modelling of structures with uncertainty in their constituent's position where the variation is assumed to take the form of a Gaussian random variable. A time varying transmission-line modelling (TLM) approach is developed allowing dynamic placement of structural boundaries. This model is then used in a 3D example to quantify the impact of structural variations and the results compared with those of an alternative Unscented Transform based static method and an analytical solution.
