Infiltration of xylene pyrolysis to enhance CSR of coke

The carbon from xylene pyrolysis infiltrated into coke to enhance the CSR (coke strength after reaction) of coke to improve coke performance for energy-saving and emission-reducing. Taking aim at the CSR, the optimum infiltration conditions of the carbon of xylene pyrolysis were researched through chemical vapor infiltration using response surface methodology. Optimum results showed that the value of CSR increased by about 8.90 wt % under the optimum conditions of the pyrolysis temperature of 1372 K, the reaction time of 102 min, and the amount of xylene of 8.14×10

. So the infiltration of xylene pyrolysis carbon can notably enhance the CSR. The consumption of coke and the emissions of carbon dioxide can be reduced because of the improvement of coke performance.
