Finite difference time domain modeling of an indoor antenna chamber with phased planar array

This paper discusses the modeling of an indoor electromagnetic testing range. The large size of the range makes FDTD simulations difficult on traditional workstations and desktop computers. An efficient out-of-core algorithm (OoC) is used to swap a portion of the FDTD space efficiently to magnetic storage without significantly impacting run times. Additionally, the indoor range uses a large planar phased array (256 elements) to provide source excitation. Backscatter returns are simulated in FDTD and compared to actual measurements.
