A single mode cylindrical microwave cavity for heating applications of liquid material

This paper presents design and implementation of a single mode cylindrical microwave cavity for microwave processing of continuously flowing liquids material. The proposed applicator was designed and fabricated to operate in TM
₀₁₀
mode at 2.45 GHz which is in Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) frequency bands. A rectangular waveguide was designed to transfer the electromagnetic energy generated from magnetron to heat the liquid sample flowing in the center of the applicator through a quartz tube. Measurement results show low refection coefficient and high heating efficiency for various liquids under test compared with domestic microwave oven.
