Study of exit choice with fire based on cellular automaton

This paper investigates the pedestrian evacuation dynamics considering the pedestrians' exit choice behavior with the influence of fire spreading. Two strategies are proposed: creating an extended floor field model, adjusting the value of static floor field to balance the number of pedestrians attached to each exit. In the new extended Floor Field model, the effect of the exit choice behavior on the evacuation is added, and thus, the floor field is weighted by static, dynamic, fire and exit choice floor fields. Numerical simulations are carried out to study the dynamics of the evacuation and analyze the influence of the exit behavior on the evacuation efficiency. The simulation results show that the evacuation efficiency is improved when considering the exit choice behavior, and the number of pedestrians evacuated from each exit is relatively balanced.
