Building resilience into systems

This paper presents the results of the CuReSS Project and demonstrates how the use of systems thinking principles and systems thinking methods, combined with an exploration of the human body's achievement of resilience, have contributed to the development of a `Blueprint' for resilience. SSM is used to draw together viewpoints from fields including ecology, physics, sociology, psychology and disaster management. The incorporation of an enterprise systems model enables resilience concepts to be contextualized for enterprises and is used to develop a set of key features of a resilience system, providing a framework for investigating resilience.
