Directional antennas standardization

In the literature and internationally accepted standardization procedures the problem of directional antennas standardization in the frequency range below 1 GHz still has not been satisfactorily solved. The applicability of a typical standard receiving antenna method for this purpose is being considered. It is proven that the method can be applied directly or its accuracy could be increased by relative simple means. The idea is discussed using an example of a logo-periodic antenna, but the method may be applied to any other one and the conclusion is valid for other types of antennas. Apart from the correct standardization of a directional antenna antenna its applicability to EMF measurements especially in conditions of interfering fields and multipath propagation, may be dramatically limited as a result of the nonacceptable level of measuring error. The reasons for the limitations are briefly outlined.
