Optical sensor based on etched fiber Bragg gratings for assessment of biodiesel quality

In this work, are presented preliminary results of the application of an etched FBG as a sensor for analyzing the biodiesel quality. The method used is based on the thermo-optic effect and the spectral behavior when the refractive index of samples with different concentrations of biodiesel approaches the refractive index of the fiber cladding.
