20 MHz accurate peak detector for FPW allergy biosensor with digital calibration

This paper proposes a 20 MHz peak detector utilizing digital calibration for a FPW allergy biosensor. The traditional peak detector operates at the frequency from several KHz to 1 MHz. By using the proposed digital calibration methodology, the operation frequency of the peak detector is simulated to be up to 20 MHz and the detected voltage error due to the delay time of the sample-and-hold circuit and the comparator is improved to be -0.8125%. Thus, the proposed design can be applied to the FPW biosensor, which requires the frequency up to 20 MHz. The proposed peak detector is implemented using TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS process. The post-layout simulation results show that the proposed peak detector possesses the power consumption of 12.69 mW given a input frequency of 20 MHz.
