A Low-Profile Multiband Mobile Phone Antenna for Telemedicine Applications

A low-profile multiband mobile phone antenna is presented and studied. The proposed antenna is easily fabricated by FR4 substrate. Furthermore, the proposed multi-band antenna is suitable for telemedicine applications. The monopole resonate a higher resonance mode. The monopole coupling feed with parasitic metal arm structure provides lower resonance mode. Their electric field distributions of the coupling are observed. The proposed antenna is designed at 2 GHz and 2.5 GHz. The proposed antenna is able to support the UMTS/Bluetooth/WLAN (2.4-2.5 GHz)/WiMAX (2.3-2.7 GHz) operation bands. The advantages of the proposed antenna are miniaturization, low-profile (? 0.8 mm), wide measured bandwidth (1.43 GHz in 3:1 VSWR standard) and high antenna gain (>; 2 dBi) and high radiation efficiency (>; 55.34 %) in all operation bands. The performances of the proposed antenna are presented to support the telemedicine applications.
