Design of a novel “V” shaped microstrip antenna with a back reflector

A novel “V” shaped microstrip antenna is designed and fabricated for C-band communication. Measured return loss of the antenna is -35.55 dB at 6.85 GHz while the measured return loss with the back reflector are found to be -31.96 dB and -29.98 dB respectively for two different positions at 2mm and 4mm with slight change in the resonant frequency. The antenna developed can be used as elements in arrays where the overall area may be reduced by virtue of its modified shape.
