Light pulse delay in a multi-layered photonic crystal

The transient time of an optical pulse in multi-layered photonic crystal is discussed as a function of the length L of the crystal and the wave vector of the incident light. In a periodic photonic crystal, the transient time τ for the wave vector close to photonic band gap is proportional to L

while τ for the wave vector at the center of photonic band is proportional to L. In a non-periodic Fibonacci lattice, τ becomes proportional to L

for the wave vector close to photonic band gap and at the center of photonic band, respectively. The power for L

in Fibonacci (periodic) photonic crystal can (not) be changed by refraction indices of consequent layers.
