The Rural Broadband Initiative Toward a new model for broadband access in Haiti and beyond

Only radically innovative and low cost service delivery models can close the growing "broadband gap" that plagues much of the developing world. Inveneo's Haiti Rural Broadband Initiative combines low-cost wireless technologies, shared infrastructure and local IT capacity building to extend broadband to 20 un-served population centers in Haiti. This paper describes the program's current status and outlines what we see as the main prerequisites of its replication in other rural and low resource settings.
