Frequency reference challenges - a systemic view

The performance of conventional quartz oscillators is being tested to the limit. We will introduce basics behind quartz and then go over known technical challenges including activity dips, aging, vibration sensitivity etc. that are encountered using quartz oscillators. We will cover new technologies on the horizon specifically MEMS based technologies that continue to solve issues faced by crystal oscillators.
