Principle and application of flexibly adjustable dynamic resource for VAr compensation

In this paper, a sort of power system VAr generator mainly based on GTO (gate turn-off thyristor) is described. The principle and the characteristics are analysed. The prototype of the device is realized in the laboratory. The adjustment is flexible and fast as expected.
