Technology and the innovative transformation of education

Summary form only given. How can institutions amplify and extend their educational value proposition, through the affordances provided by emerging technologies? This presentation will build on snapshots from MIT's education technology expedition to illustrate how institutions can strive to match their unique strengths to new educational technology opportunities. The presentation will highlight some of the educational opportunity presented by MIT's initiatives along with their strategic underpinnings and implications. It will help frame the opportunities and challenges as well as necessary transitions for an educational landscape characterized by new relationships between content, curricula and community. Some of the questions to be addressed would be: What are the implications for teaching and learning in era of digitally enabled abundance of data, information and even relationships as fostered by open educational resources and social networks? What are the implications for next generation learning environments specifically for personalization of the learning process, learning content development and delivery, continuous as well as global learning opportunities?
