Study on photoelectrocatalysis humic acid of TiO2 films using micro-arc oxidation

This Titanium oxide (TiO
₂
) films were formed on the titanium surface by micro-arc oxidation(MAO) in Na
₃
PO
₄
solution. Then the titanium oxide coatings were treated by Fe(NO
₃
)
₃
aqueous to improve the activity. The structures of titanium oxide films before and after surface Fe(NO
₃
)
₃
treatment were characterized by SEM,EDX.The photocatalytic ability of titanium oxide films were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of humic acid aqueous solution. Using the TiO
₂
films as working electrode, the titanium as counter electrode and with the UV lamp,the electro-assisted photocatalytic reactor was built.The results show that the photocatalytic activity of the titanium oxide films was enhanced after Fe (NO
₃
)
₃
treatment, the humic acid concentration of lOmg/L, pH is 3, Na
₂
SO
₄
electrolyte concentration is 0.5mol/L. The photoelectric degradation of humic acid is increased from 17.7% to 27.1% by the photoelectrocatalysis and Fe (NO
₃
)
₃
treatment TiO
₂
/Ti film photoelectric degradation increased to 37.2%.
