Research on the micropump based on the magnetocaloric effect of magnetic fluid

magnetic fluid has been prepared by a precipitation reaction method. Its magnetization property, magnetocaloric effect and the Curie temperature have been experimentally studied using vibrating sample magnetometer. A micropump based on the magnetocaloric effect of magnetic fluid is designed which provides a new method to solve the problems caused by over heating in the micro electro-mechanical system. The working principle of the magnetocaloric pump is introduced and the pump pressure achieved by magnetic fluid is theoretically analyzed using the Bernoulli equation. The result obtained from experiment and calculation shows that the pump is able to provide a pressure of 540.3 Pa using the Mn
0.78
Zn
0.22
Fe

O

magnetic fluid at an external magnetic field intensity of 5×10

A/m and with a temperature gradient of 40 °C.
