Power consumption analysis of opaque and transparent optical core networks

Energy consumption has become a critical issue for system vendors and network operators. This paper studies the power consumption or colored line interfaces in converged packet optical core networks and their contribution to the overall power consumption of the network. The power consumption distribution among the different network components is also presented.
