Sideband instability in free-electron lasers-a new technique for suppression

An optical element that causes very large aperture losses at the sideband frequency in a free-electron laser is described. The center frequency is not affected. The scheme requires the frequency width at the center frequency to be much less than the offset of the sideband radiation.<
