Optofluidic waveguides with Ta2O5 cladding layers and low photoluminescence

A new type of hollow core waveguide fabricated with Ta
2
O
5
and SiO
2
films is demonstrated. The photoluminescence background of ARROW waveguides is decreased significantly by replacing Si
3
N
4
with Ta
2
O
5
films, while maintaining low optical losses.
