Evaluation Of A Priority Flow Control Scheme For Multicomputer Networks

The performance of multicomputers is highly dependent on the underlying communication mechanisms, especially for a large-scale multicomputer machine with hundreds or thousands of processing elements. It is often required that an interconnection network of a multicomputer would be able to deliver a guaranteed communication bandwidth for a class of messages, depending on their usages. This paper describes and evaluates a virtual channel flow control algorithm, which can meet low-latency transmission time and high network throughput requirements. We consider a 20 mesh network with eight virtual channels. Performance evaluation results for network of 256 nodes are presented.
