Application of the dual-grid scheme in BoR-FDTD for the simulation of reflector antennas

The dual-grid (DG) technique is proposed in the body-of-revolution FDTD algorithm (BoR-FDTD) to simulate large BoR antennas in a short computation time. The antenna under test here is of Cassegrain type and is illuminated by a corrugated horn with pass-band filtering characteristics at 9.78 GHz (X-band). The proposed technique is 6 times faster than the conventional BoR-FDTD algorithm. A parametric study to determine maximum gain of the design is performed in shorter time by taking the advantage of the proposed scheme.
