Interoperability of the Simulation-based Training Support Environment with C4ISR system

As Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance (C4ISR) systems are used more widely in the Army, the training on it become more important. To provide a realistic Environment for training, we adopt the Simulation-based Training Support Environment (S-TSE) for promoting training with C4ISR systems. The development of Interoperability of S-TSE with C4ISR System is now beginning, due to the continued parallel evolution of the Models and Simulations (M&S) Architectures and the C4ISR Architectures, such as the High Level Architecture (HLA), the Common Database Environment (CDE) and the Common Software Operating Environment(CSOE). The C4ISR/S-TSE Interoperability Conceptual Reference Model is developed to identify all possible types of information that could be exchanged between C4ISR system and S-TSE. In order to fixing the “free text” problem and minimizing the translation, we develop the CDE&CSOE-based C4ISR/S-TSE Interface Standards, and provide a completely unambiguous interchangeable information representation, the C4ISR\M&S Interoperability Language (CMIL), for C4ISR system and S-TSE.
