Shaking table model test of a large steel-concrete hybrid high-rise building out-of-codes

Yunnan Provincial Museum New Museum was a large and complicated base-isolated building, its super-strucure is steel-concrete hybrid and out of codes. For the purpose of studying the seismic properties of superstructure, ensuring the weak floor, the 1/30 proportion shaking table model test of the super-structure was done. The result show that there was no obvious damage on the superstructure after inputting 7 degree frequent earthquake, design earthquake and rare earthquake waves, but a certain reduction of structural frequency occurs. Meanwhile, after the model experienced 7 degree super-earthquake (8.0 degree rare earthquake), there were many obvious damages. For example, there are many cracks on the beams and columns, the beam bars in steel truss's top suspended storey had large deformation, some braces was damaged. Finally the natural frequency of vibration dropped obviously. The ground inputting acceleration was amplified evidently in super-structure, the amplificatory coefficient of acceleration of each floor is greater than 1 under different seismic level. The floor displacement increases with the inputting acceleration increasing, but the story displace ratio can satisfy the codes. Finally, it can be compared with the isolated model and proved that the isolated structure can improve the buildings performance greatly.
