Experiment on the removal of NOx in diesel engine exhaust with non-thermal plasma assisted catalyst

A new non-thermal plasma reactor was designed and the measurement of the reactor's discharge power was introduced. Then the experiment was carried out to reseach the effect on the removal of NO
_x
in diesel engine exhaust with non-thermal plasma assisted catalyst technology. The results showed that NO was oxidized to NO
₂
with the increase of discharge power, and the total amount of NO
_x
was not reduced under the effect of non-thermal plasma. Under the effect of non-thermal plasma assisted catalyst, the NO emission was increased with the increase of tempreture, and NO
₂
emission was decreased. Howerver, in the range of 300 ~350°C, the amount ofNO
_x
was significantly reduced. In high load conditions, the removal of NO
_x
emission was increased.
