Prediction and application for rain induced shallow landslides in natural catchments

An improved infinite slope stability model (IISSM) driven by the comprehensive physics-based Integrated Hydrology Model (InHM) was reported. Slip surface is taken to be parallel to the hydraulic gradient without assumption of slip depth and profile. No pre-processing of the input DEM is needed since flat area and pits are allowed to keep natural hydrologic response. The presented approach has been applied in a small catchment located in the southeast of Zhejiang province, China. Time-space distribution of landslides susceptibility and catchment stability prediction function has been analyzed under different rainfall characteristics. The results suggest that this model could be an efficient and valid tool for landslides prediction.
