The effects of training and system parameter variables on pattern recognition of the vibrotactile array by the visually handicapped

A vision substitution system is under development which uses an array of miniature vibrating elements to present an image in tactile form to a visually-impaired person. The objective of this research is to determine and evaluate the effects of extended training and mode of the system on the performance of visually-impaired operators.
