Study on Deceleration-time Curves in Projectile Penetrating Hard Targets

Designs of hard target penetrating fuze usually depend on properties of deceleration with a projectile penetrating hard target. Based on tests of penetrating multi-armor plates and semi-infinite concrete target, and by means of a numerical simulation tool, LS-DYNA, the paper studies the properties of deceleration when a projectile penetrating relevant targets, and verifies the constitutive relations of materials, parameter selection, and algorithm through comparing with the data from tests and simulation. Furthermore, the paper analyze some factors effecting properties of deceleration, and simulates the influences on penetrating deceleration from target's medium, projectile's shape, and its impact velocity and angle when attacking a target. Therefore, the paper expands test data, and provides the relevant references and basis for smart fuze designs.
