The value of an incremental (mitigated) SAIDI minute

A SAIDI minute, in simple terms, is recorded when an entire power network is shut down for one minute. One SAIFI interruption occurs each time we interrupt supply to the same network. This paper promotes the idea that we can use arbitrage, in a broad sense, to appraise the value of an eradicated SAIDI minute or SAIFI interruption. The annual equivalent costs to control these indices then become a convenient yardstick to weigh the economic potential of newer technologies on an electrical network.
